So I ran into this woman…..

It was suggested to us that we go to Bullets Bar in the 7th Ward of New Orleans. Kermit Ruffins plays every Tuesday and being that one of the kids was doing his documentary on jazz and music it was recommended that we check it out.  He was crazy and the crowed loved him, but it wasn’t until this girl, this phenomenal young woman, stepped up to the microphone, that we were blown away.

When she was finished and the instructors, Colleen and Becky, and I came out of our daze, we knew we had to talk to her. She agreed that night to give me an interview for my on documentary and from there the rest was history.

After the Interview she agreed to allow me to film her preparing for a performance.  So I went to her apartment and followed her through her steps to becoming stage ready.

Photo Updates!

St. Rock Cemetery

Wednesday June 22nd, the group was able to do ride alongs with photographers from the Times-Picaune, the local paper for New Orleans.  It was an amazing experience and both John Muccusker and Chris Granger were so kind as to have us tag along with them, and for that we can not thank them enough.

The above photo was from my ride along with Chris. It was unfortunate that the rally he was assigned to photograph did not happen but he still was able to make the ride along interesting by taking us to one of the many above ground graveyards in the city.

After the day with the photographers the group broke free from the instructors and went to dinner at the Cafe Mesparo right in the French Quarter.

Sunrise Shoot Day 4 - Lake Pontchartrain

The next day a few of us got up bright and early for the sunrise shoot at Lake Pontchartrain. Out the door by 5:20am so we could catch the sun just as it gave us the perfect light.

Right off the Lake we found what was left of a restaurant that once sat on the lake.  Only the supports sticking out of the water and the railing leading to the front door still stand.
